1. Introduction

This journal contains the "basic" credits for each of the Chronophontians: body, hair, etc., so I don't feel the duty to repeat this information every time I post something.  I've long since lost count of the "editions" of this journal - it changes (or should change) every time a new Chronophontian joins us, or every time one of the existing Chronophontians undergoes (undertakes?) a major change, which is surprisingly often.

I believe strongly in giving credit, not just for resources from dA but others too (such as Poser figures and props).  OTOH, I don't want to clutter up every one of my Artist's Comments with repetitious credit info for things that keep reappearing (like somebody's hair, for instance).  So this journal is for ongoing credits - ongoing, not permanent, of course.  Since I don't keep older versions of this journal, it's not always accurate for my earlier work.

MBTI and Enneagram (listed for each Chronophontian) are personality type theories.  Starrphyre has put together a nice short summary of the MBTI fav.me/d5bm37q - if you want more, you'll need to go surfing!

My workflow tools are always the same: Poser and Photoshop.  Details in section 3!

Many 3D artists will mention in their comments "Poser and Photoshop", "Vue, DAZ|Studio and Paint Shop Pro", etc. - the basic tools that they use.  Mine (Poser and Photoshop) are always the same apart from changing versions, so I don't bother to mention them; besides, I feel more strongly about crediting resources such as props, backgrounds, etc.  So, here, "once and for all" - or, more accurately, once and for some time to come:

I've used various versions of Poser since 2000.  When I came to dA in 2007, I was using Poser 6; I'm now (April 2012) up to version 8.  New versions of Poser are generally, to be blunt, too buggy to be useful until about the second service release - so I buy the new version immediately but don't generally switch to it until a few months later.

I do postwork in Photoshop.  I've got the newest (?) version, CS6, but my favorite is still the old Photoshop 7, which I use whenever I can.  I always do at least a little postwork - the "χφ" sig if nothing else - so I never boast "no postwork".  I don't consider that anything awesome anyway.  Sometimes, especially when working with stock backgrounds, I do a LOT of postwork.

One genuinely "no-postwork" case is animations.  It's impractical to postwork hundreds of frames, and impossible to postwork them all in exactly the same way, so I don't try.

In connection with Poser, I use skin shaders to improve the girls' skin textures, which tend to be a little flat and opaque without them.  For some years I used the Real Skin Shader (RSS) by FaceOff www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/in… . Unfortunately, as happens all too often to software, this fine commercial product is now obsolete; I've switched over to the Versatile Skin Shader (VSS) by Bagginsbill sites.google.com/site/poserbag… - which is also free! I experimented for a while with subsurface scattering, and created special materials for that, but it does not work well in Poser 8, so I've gone back to "plain" VSS.  (I'm told that subsurface scattering works much better in Poser 9 and 2012, but I don't know if my poor little computer can handle those, so I stay with 8.)


On thanking faves: I like to! Even when I run into curmudgeons who actually object to being thanked.

However, I have the problem of being popular! Well, sort of. Not, thank God, popular enough to make enemies, but popular enough that I can't thank every fave. So as a compromise, I thank everyone who faves and comments, and everyone who faves more than once during the period (typically four or five days) before the next time I go through and delete messages.
