Shanghai, September 2005 - another side of this city.
The visiting faculty residence at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, where I lived for two months in 2005. Not much like the "Blue Hotel".
I don't know how the light leaked in around the edges, but I think it somehow enhances the sense of tranquillity - like soft focus but less hokey.
Glad you discovered this! The pieces way in the back of my gallery haven't had much attention - I guess that happens to most of us.
It was a wonderful place. The whole university was an island of calm in the middle of an amazingly frantic city.
When I started posting things at dA I wasn't sure but what I might move toward photography rather than 3D, though I wasn't really set up to do photography - got lots of "family pictures" but nothing that was ever intended to be art. This and "Blue Hotel" were two that I thought had some potential.
Is it really hot and humid where you took the photo? If you've just come out of an air-conditioned building the cold lens will for up fast when it hits the humid air.

Thank you for the , especially on this piece! I've posted only two photos, and it's especially pleasing when others like them.
This was in Shanghai in early September, and it was hot and humid. Shanghai is at the same latitude as Savannah, Georgia, and its climate is only slightly cooler. (Shanghai regularly gets some snow in the winter, but not much.)
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
